Plain and simple metallics - 30/01/2009
Any girl worth her fashion salt should aim to go for gold when it comes to fashion this season.
Whether it's incorporated in boots, dresses, bags or high heels, the metallic trend is where it is currently at.
And this has not gone unnoticed by the celebrities, with several famous faces from the stage and screen stepping on to the red carpet in golds, silvers and bronzes that shimmer, over recent months.
As Glamour magazine points out, perhaps most famously, Jennifer Lopez unleashed her inner goddess at the recent Golden Globes, where she wore a striking floor-length backless and plunging gold gown, with a few chunky gold bangles for good measure.
Up-and-coming star Megan Fox also celebrated her curves at the same ceremony, when she was snapped in a clingy gold floor-length frock with thin spaghetti straps and a diamante embellished chiffon over-lay.
Megan also went for bangles - which may suggest that the chunky bracelets are the jewellery trend of the moment - this time in gold and turquoise.
Elsewhere, Jessica Alba has been embracing her super-toned figure shortly after becoming a new mum and no outfit showed off her curves better than the gold silk Miu Miu mini dress she wore with a thick black belt, black opaque tights and a pair of black satin heels to a recent red carpet event.
Across the pond in the UK, Fearne Cotton showed girls how to carry off the metallic trend subtly.
At the Brit Awards nominees' party, the DJ and television presented wore a vintage inspired fitted black frock embellished with gold and silver studs.
She completed the look with strappy black sling back sandals and some red nail varnish and looked the epitome of rock chic cool.
Hollywood A-lister Demi Moore won a gold for style in her silver sequinned dress recently with matching silver Christian Louboutin platforms.
But while not every girl can afford the Louboutin price tag, at Discount Shoe Store they may be able to bag themselves a metallic bargain.
Among the footwear on offer is a gorgeous pair of platform peep toe court shoes in black and grey zebra print and with sequin embellishment by Black Gardenia for just £10.
In those shoes, women are sure to win the gold medal.
